The conversation

The Model is a film about the standard people are measured against, and where that standard comes from. Mirza has spent a career pulling at that thread from a stage. Putting the two of them in a room to discuss it produced something more useful than a standard promotional interview.

The screening

The interview ran ahead of the film’s UK Asian Film Festival screening at the Kiln Theatre, Kilburn — a near-capacity house that went on to see the film take Best Feature Film at the festival.
