White Guilt Wins Best Feature at the British Urban Film Festival

White Guilt has won the Best Feature award at the 2024 British Urban Film Festival — reported by Screen Daily, the film industry’s trade paper of record.

Writing on 29 October 2024, Screen Daily’s Mona Tabbara described the film as following “11 affluent white individuals who go off in search of a pay-to-play service with the aim of relieving themselves of ‘white guilt’, by experiencing reverse slavery.”

Why the coverage matters

A trade report is a different kind of recognition to a festival laurel. Screen Daily is read by distributors, sales agents and programmers — the people who decide what gets seen next. For a film made outside the studio system on a five-day schedule, appearing in those pages alongside the year’s BUFF winners puts it in front of an audience that festival applause alone does not reach.

The BUFF win was followed by selection for the 33rd Raindance Film Festival, where White Guilt received two further nominations.
